Judges 7:21 (ESV)

Every man stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran. They cried out and fled.

Talk About It

This verse shows what happened after Gideon and his tiny army did exactly what God told them to do. Even though their plan sounded strange—blowing trumpets, smashing jars, and shouting—the people obeyed God completely. Because they obeyed, God did something amazing: the big, scary enemy army ran away! Sometimes God asks us to do things that don’t make sense, or He asks us to trust Him when we don’t know what will happen. Gideon’s team saw God give victory, not because they were powerful or clever, but because they trusted and obeyed God. God wants us to listen and do what He says too. When we follow God, He can work in ways we don’t expect—He loves to show His power in our lives. Let’s remember: we do our part by trusting and obeying, and God does His part by bringing victory!

For Parents to Explain

Lord, thank You that You can do incredible things when we trust and obey You. Help us to listen to You and follow Your ways each day. Amen.

Family Activities

Obey and See!

  1. As a family, pick one thing you believe God wants you to do this week—like helping a neighbor.
  2. Do it together, trusting God with the outcome.
  3. Afterward, talk about how you saw God at work in your obedience.
  4. Celebrate by thanking God for His faithfulness!

Trumpet Blast Art

  1. Use paper and markers (or any craft supplies) to draw or make trumpets and torches.
  2. Write on each trumpet or torch, "I will obey God."
  3. Arrange your crafts in a circle (like Gideon’s army) and discuss how each person can obey God this week.
  4. Display them as a reminder of what God can do when we trust and obey.

Family Prayer

Now, each person can pray for the courage to obey God, even when it seems difficult or confusing.
